Deproteinised extract of the blood of calves
Composition and mode of action:
Together with important organic intermediary products of metabolism and inorganic substances, Oxydermal contains an active principle that influences the oxygen metabolism. Oxydermal is standardise by the Warburg method and increases oxygen utilisation by more than 200%. Oxydermal improves oxygen utilization even in tissues with a poor O2 supply, and promotes granulation and epithelisation to a marked degree.
Indication and dosage
Skin ulcers:
Indolent ulcer of the leg, decubital ulcer, X-ray ulcer. the injection of 2ml of Oxydermal i.m. or i.v. until the ulcer has healed is indicated as an adjunct to the local treatment of therapy-resistant skin ulcers and severe burns with Oxydermal Jelly or Oxydermal Ointment. when treating particulary recalcitrant ulcers Oxydermal should be deluted 1:1 with aqua dest, for infiltration into the tissues underlying the ulcer.
Gastric and duodenal ulcer:
4 ml daily i.m. or i.v. during 2 weeks 2 ml daily i.m. or i.v. during 1 weeksin serious cases, especially during the first week of treatment, the dosage can be increased unhesitatingly. if necessary the period of treatment can be extended.
Arteriosolerotic and diabetic angiopathies with and without ulceration, apoplectic attack 1st and 2nd week of treatment: 4 to 6 ml daily (i.m., i.v. or i.a.). from the 3rd week onwards this dosage may generally bereduced. trophic ulcers should in addition be treated with Oxydermal Jelly and Oxydermal Ointment.
Myocardial Infaretion:
4 ml daily for 1 to 2 weeks (c.g. 2 ml i.m. and 2 ml i.v.) Oxydermal should not take the place of the usual treatment for infarct and it has no effect ofanticoagulant therapy. Oxydermal is optimally tolerated by the organism, and the dossage (for each indication) may if necesssary be increased and/or theduration of treatment extended.
Skin Lightening:
2 to 4 ml (1 to 2 amp.) weekly i.v. or i.m. injection
